Family - We have three grown children – Heather, Heidi (married to Scott, and mother to Elijah and Carter), and Eric. We also have “adopted” Terri, who is married to Paul, and mom to Seth, Sydney and Samuel.
What Brought you to Redeemer? Well, actually, it was ALL God. But being closer to our kids didn’t hurt.
What is one of your life verses?
My current favorite verse is Colossians 3:11 – “Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised of uncircumcised, barbarian,
Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all and is in all.” This says to me that no matter what our differences, we can be unified as Christ’s body when we remember that He IS all, and IS IN all.
What is God refining in your character right now?
God is teaching me how to listen to His voice throughout the day, remembering that even the smallest choices that I make are indicators of my level of obedience. I am trying to “take captive every thought to make to make it obedient to Christ.” (2
Cor. 10:5b)
Where is your favorite place to visit? Anyplace with water…but my favorite is definitely the ocean.
What is your worst personal habit?
God knows I’m trying to let my adult children be adults, but that “mommy gene” is SO hard to overcome. I want to know what my kids are up to, what they’re thinking, and what they had for dinner last night (okay, not that one…).
What is your favorite book? Brennan Manning’s
Abba Father has impacted me more than any book I’ve ever read. He is REAL and challenges me to live authentically. I like that.
What is your favorite restaurant?
The best lobster thermidor ever is at the Pier Market on Fisherman’s Wharf. Locally? Believe it or not, I’d take a Kopp’s hamburger and custard over about anything else.
What would be your dream vacation? I have taken my dream vacation. Pete and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on the island of Hawaii. The only thing better will be heaven itself.
What is your favorite food/meal? Not to be redundant, but I really do like hamburgers on the grill.
What is your favorite game? I like word games best – like
Upwords. Whatever you do, don’t ask me to play a game with trump. I am a complete trump moron.
What is your Favorite color? I don’t think I have one. I liked purple as a kid, but after having purple walls, curtains and bedspread, I got so sick of it I still don’t like it today. I think it’s safer to not have a favorite color…then you don’t go crazy and monochromatic.
What has been one of your most stirring times with God?
One of the most spiritually “stirring” times of my life was the worship I was privileged to experience at Challenge ’02 in Atlanta. Worshipping with Chris Tomlin and 6000 teenagers was the absolute best. At one point, we were all singing “Breathe” and the power in the coliseum went out. The emergency generators came on and there were only minimal lights in the hallways but the coliseum was still pretty dark. The singing continued…one side of the room sang “and I am lost without you” while the other side echoed back “and I’m desperate for you”… Chris Tomlin sat down on the
stage and just watched it happen. This went on for at least 3 minutes, and the Spirit of God was present in that place.
