Peter Schmidlkofer, Senior
Pastor
Tell
Us About Your Family? Technically
we have three children and one in-law.
Heather is our oldest followed by Heidi
and her husband Scott with Eric our
youngest. We also have the privilege of
having Terri who is just a bit older than
Heather. Terri calls us Mom and Dad even though we
became stand-ins after her parents died. So,
including Terri
& her husband Paul’s three children,
we have five grandchildren, Seth, Sydney,
Samuel, Elijah and Carter.
What Brought you to Redeemer? I
was attracted to Redeemer for many
reasons, some more subtle than others. I
felt like I “fit in” at Redeemer with
the role I was being asked to play and the
leadership that was here. It didn’t hurt
that my last name also seems to fit into
the Milwaukee landscape.
What is one of your life verses? I
have many verses that are favorites but
Colossians 1:28-29 are my life verses:
“We proclaim him, admonishing and
teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that
we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
To this end I labor, struggling with all
his energy, which so powerfully works in
me.” (NIV)
What is God refining in your character
right now? Ask me next month and it
will probably be different. But right now
He is teaching me the peace and power that
comes from humility and simple faith. I am
relearning that I am a limited resource
and God is not.
Where is your favorite place to visit? There are too many to choose from. I
think that I would say the Colorado Rockies.
What is your worst personal habit? What?
You think I am going to tell you? Yeah
right! There are some things best left to
God to know and His grace to forgive and
you to figure out on your own!
What is your favorite book? My
favorite set of books is the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. I have read them at
least five times.
What is your favorite restaurant? One
where you are paying the bill! I am
available next week. Seriously, the place
isn’t as important to me as the people I
go with.
What would be your dream vacation? A
week in the Rockies with an outfitter
riding mountain bike trails and sleeping
in tents.
What is your favorite food/meal? I
love many different kinds of food from
Arabic to Scandinavian. What I really love
I shouldn’t eat any more and that is
anything with lots of sugar in it!
What is your favorite game? I
used to love playing basketball when my
body would allow me to. I love watching
football and I can sometimes be talked
into table games with my wife.
What is your favorite color? Yeah
right! When what I am wearing matches
enough so that I do not offend my wife, I
am a happy camper.
What has been one of your most stirring
times with God? There have been many
through the years but I tend to think of
one of my first times. I remember sitting
on the floor in the living room of a
family who were serious believers
realizing for the first time in my life
that Jesus died on the Cross for not just
the whole world but for me personally as
well. It was a turning point in my
otherwise powerless spiritual life.
